Septarian nodules are unique in that they formed as a result of volcanic eruptions and attracted dead marine life, chemically bonding them to the sediment and forming mud balls. They are composed of calcite, which makes up the yellow centers, aragonite, which are the brown lines, and outer gray rock, which is limestone. The name Septarian comes from the Latin word "septum," meaning seven, or "saeptum," meaning wall or enclosure. Septarian is a grounding stone that allows for greater tolerance and patience, emotional flexibility, and healing. It is also known for its ability to absorb and transmit energy when kept for a period of time.
